For all of us, the clock is ticking.
Nothing remains of what it used to be; the only standing structure there is the pool.
Hotel Riviera is located in Triunfo de la Republica Road in Ciudad Juarez, next to what once was the Monumental Bullring.
Nothing remains of this hotel; no kitchen, no rooms, no clients, nothing. During the 50´s it was an important place for meetings, parties and vacationing families.
It used to have the most high pool trampoline of Ciudad Juarez; most people in the city remember visiting it in their childhood, to spend all day at the hotel and for the more brave ones to jump from the famous trampoline.
The Riviera terrace was famous for its parties. From there you can see the whole Road and at the distance you can even watch El Paso, TX and Franklin mountains. You spent your night in between a night dress and a swimming suit.
At the early 60´s the Riviera closed its doors, a girl was murdered at the pool and her body hidden in the dressing rooms; since then, the hotel was closed and became a legend, a place where time is suspended. Surrounded by a Wal-Mart and a Starbucks, surrounded by past and future.
For all of us the clock is ticking; nothing remains from it once was, the only standing structure is the pool.
The only person who stills have a relation with these ruins is Juan, the guardian. Juan has worked here since he was 15 years old, living his days with silence and no rushes, nobody bothers him. Juan looks for an empty pool where plants have grown; he sleeps under the pool, where the girl's body was found. When you ask him about the ghosts he calmly answers: ¨At the beginning they used to tease me but know we live in peace¨.
